AllSouth Employees Serve at Habitat for Humanity ReStores
Giving back to the communities we serve is very important to us and our team members. Through our employee volunteer program, team members are given paid time to volunteer during organized team events. The volunteer events are a way for us to provide opportunities to our team members to serve and support local non-profit organizations that align with our efforts of supporting the military, homelessness and hunger issues, and aiding with family crisis.
Recently, a team of 25 employees spent a day providing 50 hours of service at three Habitat for Humanity ReStores located in the Midlands in Richland, Sumter and Kershaw Counties. Habitat for Humanity ReStores sell and accept donations of home improvement items, furniture, appliances and other household goods. (If you are looking for household items on a budget, you should check them out.) The money raised at the ReStores help Habitat for Humanity continue their mission to build and restore homes.
Our team channeled their retail and service skills. The volunteers sorted and priced items, stocked shelves, organized furniture, unloaded donations as they arrived at the store, and more. During the day a group learned how to prepare carpet to sell – they measured, cut, and rolled 13 rolls of carpet.
We enjoyed giving back and had a great time working with the ReStore. “I really enjoyed working at the Restore. I love being able to get out and help the community, it’s really rewarding,” said Brandy Ballance. In addition to giving back to the communities, it is nice to get to hang out with team members outside of the normal work day. Bryan Parker said, “I love jumping in and getting to work. It was fun work with the team and really see how we all fell into place. We had a great crew.”
Our volunteer program has only just begun, but so far we have really enjoyed giving back to our communities.
