AllSouth AllStar Chris
Chris grew up in a military family and was born in Augusta, GA. When her dad was stationed at Fort Jackson in the early 1970s, her family decided to settle in the Columbia area. She completed her education in Richland School District Two and was introduced to the hospitality and service industries while working in her grandparents’ coffee shop in Manning, SC. That experience sparked her passion for helping others. She went on to work in several local restaurants, exploring different career paths as many young adults do, but always found herself drawn back to roles centered around people and service.
Her first experience in the financial industry came at another credit union, where she worked for four years before deciding to take a chance on starting her own business. Chris opened a residential cleaning company and found joy in cleaning and organizing for others, just as she had enjoyed doing in her own home over the years. Eventually, she realized she missed working directly with the public. In 1994, she came across an opening for a teller position at what was then Fort Jackson Federal Credit Union and decided to apply. And so began her long and meaningful career with AllSouth.
"Chris is kind and always willing to help. She takes a genuine interest in each member she assists, making sure she meets their needs while cultivating a personal relationship with them."
-Brad, Regional Manger
Chris started at our Parklane location, but didn't stay in one place for long. As she moved between branches, she shared her fun-loving personality, expanded her credit union knowledge, and embraced opportunities to grow. After Parklane, she transferred to our Dutch Square branch and trained for member service at our Irmo branch. She later returned to Dutch Square better equipped to serve our members and eventually became the head teller at our Lexington branch. After several years in that role, she became a floater, visiting nearly every location. She took a brief break from floating while working in Winnsboro for a few years, before ultimately settling back “home” in Lexington where she has remained ever since.
"Chris consistently goes the extra mile to make sure every member feels valued. The passion that she shows towards her members and her level of care truly shows why Chris has members that return to her time after time. She is an amazing friend and coworker to all of us at the Lexington branch and keeps us laughing all the time."
- Hollie, Head Teller, Lexington
Chris says that being in one branch consistently has had a meaningful impact on her relationships with members. Many of them feel like extended family, and she has been there for some of their biggest life moments. By focusing on member service, Chris helps members build healthy financial habits and provides guidance they can trust. She believes deeply in our core values and works hard to help "make the every day possible" for everyone she serves.
Outside of work, Chris makes time for many interests, especially those that involve being outdoors. Her favorite places range from the mountains to the beach. A lifelong animal lover, she has never met a stray she did not want to bring home—at last count, she had eight cats and two dogs. She still enjoys cleaning and organizing when she can, and she recently rediscovered a childhood passion for roller skating with an old friend. Chris also recently purchased a camper, hoping to prepare for retirement and enjoy traveling with some of her pets.
