AllSouth AllStar Thomas
We recently sat down with Thomas at our Platt Springs branch to learn what distinguishes him as an AllStar. Let’s discover more about our December AllStar.
Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself?
A: I was born and raised in Marlboro County, South Carolina. My wife and I have three kids: a 20-year-old son and two daughters, ages 14 and 11. Outside of work, I spend my time with my family. I’m a die-hard sports fan and enjoy watching football and basketball. I also play the drums for my church band.
Q: How did you get your start at AllSouth?
A: I worked for a finance company for 12 years and always thought my next stepping stone would be at a credit union, so I applied for an open teller position at the Garners Ferry branch in April 2022. A few months later, in December, I moved to our Elmwood branch and became a trained Member Service Representative. I stayed there until moving to our Platt Springs branch in September 2023, where I now serve as the vault teller.
Q: What do you like most about working with members?
A: It is my goal to create a positive experience for our members, and I enjoy seeing our members pleased with the service they’ve received. I’m a people person, so I really enjoy interacting with our members. I try to thrive in customer service so our members get the best products and services that fit their needs.
“Thomas makes coming to work fun. He’s the practical joker of our group and loves to make people smile.” - Tammy, Head Teller, Platt Springs
Q: What’s the most rewarding part about working at AllSouth?
A: The most rewarding part has been seeing my progression. As I said, I was in the same role at my last job for 12 years. Now, I’ve been with AllSouth for less than three years, and I’ve had three different positions, continuously moving up. I really appreciate the opportunity to progress and grow at AllSouth.
“Thomas is always making his teammates laugh or joking around with someone. He joined our team a little over a year ago and immediately became part of our branch family. Many of our members seek him out for assistance, as he always offers a friendly smile.” - Renae, Platt Springs Branch Manager
Q: What’s the best financial advice you have received?
A: My advice is to learn how to establish and maintain good credit. I was always taught to save money but didn’t hear much about the importance of building credit.
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: I have a passion for music and have been playing the drums since I was three years old. I dabble with the bass guitar and keyboard, but the drums are my main instrument.
