AllSouth AllStar Amy
We recently sat down with Amy at our Saluda Branch to find out what sets her apart as an AllStar. Let's find out a little bit more about our July AllStar.
Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself?
A: After moving around as a child and early into adulthood, I made South Carolina my home almost a decade ago. I have two sons, Bastian (22), and Corban (14), and a dog named Buddy. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, and spending time with my family.
Q: How did you get your start at AllSouth?
A: I interviewed in 2017 to be a teller and was assigned to our Saluda branch. My previous job required a lot of travel. I was looking for stability for my family and wanted to transition to a traditional "9 to 5" job. Within six months of starting at AllSouth, I became MSR trained and have been in my role for about four years now as an MSR II.
Q: What does your current position entail?
A: Working at a smaller branch, I wear a lot of hats. As an MSR II, I open new accounts and secure loans for our members. Each day is different, but I typically help on the teller line until there’s an account opening or loan request that comes in. Both of our tellers have been here a little over a year now, so I'm able to help answer questions and provide support as things come up. I enjoy working with the members, building relationships, and helping members feel more at ease when it comes to their everyday banking.
Shannon, a teller at the Saluda branch, said:
“There is not a more dedicated employee than Amy. She goes far and beyond typical customer service with our members. She is always quick with a smile and a warm hello that I believe is truly one of her best assets. Amy will turn over every leaf to solve any problem or answer any question a member has.”
Q: What do you like most about working with members?
A: My favorite aspect of working with members is being able to help them do something positive in their lives. It’s rewarding to see members make progress. I helped a member open a Teen Checking account years ago and later had the privilege of assisting them with obtaining their first loan. We’re here to educate our members and help them make good financial decisions.
Q: How would you describe the culture at AllSouth?
A: I would say that AllSouth is very community orientated. Working in a smaller branch in a smaller community has allowed me to build relationships with my members. This is my community. It's not uncommon for me to run into members at the grocery store, while I’m out to eat at dinner, and at local events.
Q: What’s the best financial advice you have received?
A: I would say patience is a good piece of advice. Whether you're saving money, building your credit, or making a large purchase, you just need to have patience. None of them are going to happen overnight.
Other team members that work closely with Amy had this to say about her:
"Amy cares deeply about the Credit Union and the members we serve. She is definitely someone I look up to and look forward to learning more from. Amy is empathetic to our members and the community we serve which only helps gain the trust of our members. She is very deserving of the AllStar honor." - Callie, Teller
"Amy is very knowledgeable and passionate about her role at AllSouth. Her attention to detail and excellent service allows her to connect to both her co-workers, and the members that come and see her at the Saluda Branch." - Brad, Regional Manager
