  • AllSouth AllStar Roy

Our March AllStar wears many hats. As the Sumter branch manager, Roy fills any and all roles as needed. Whether he's assisting from the teller line, or working from his office helping a member open a new account or finalize a loan, Roy is always happy to lend a helping hand.

Roy has over a decade under his belt as a manager at AllSouth. Throughout his career, Roy has been the branch manager at our Camden and Sumter locations, including managing multiple locations at a time.  He is currently the branch manager at our second free-standing location in Sumter that opened in 2022.

Roy’s responsibilities as branch manager include much more than balancing the schedule for his employees. He oversees the daily operations of our Sumter location, ensuring his team has the tools they need to be successful as well as assisting members with finding the right products and services.

In his almost 50 years of working, Roy said the team at the Sumter branch is one of the best groups he’s ever worked with. “A branch is no better than the staff, and I’ve been extremely blessed with this staff,” he said.

Members often share how they feel like family when they are greeted and serviced at AllSouth. Roy's favorite part about being a manager is the ability to solve problems. Over time, he has had the opportunity to work with many members, helping them build their credit and accomplish other goals. Roy shares how rewarding it is to see a member get a mortgage, or reach other financial milestones. "It's why you get in this line of work," he said.

He enjoys teaching members about opportunities that they didn’t know were available to them.

"I have worked with Roy at several branches throughout his career at AllSouth. Two words come to my mind when thinking of Roy — dependable and jovial. In addition, Roy has consistently brought a high level of commitment to his team as well as to his members. His priority has been to ensure the member’s experience exceeds their expectations. It’s that experience that keeps their loyalty." - Misty, Regional Manager

Speaking of his time with AllSouth, Roy shared how awesome it is to be supported by management. "This has got to be probably one of my favorite jobs, and the best place I've ever worked," he said. "I am 60 years old. I've been around a while. I've seen a few things and worked in a lot of different environments. And bar none - AllSouth takes care of their people."

    Horses Roy

Roy grew up as a military child while his father served in the Air Force. He was born in Germany, and moved around many times as a child. He recalled his favorite location – Enid, Oklahoma. He discovered his love for playing the drums while in school in Enid before eventually becoming a professional drummer. After his dad received orders to go overseas, Roy spent his junior and senior year in Azores – a series of nine islands in the mid-Atlantic. Following graduation, Roy settled in South Carolina, where he attended the University of South Carolina and met his future wife, Cindy.

Roy had many occupations before joining AllSouth. He started his first management role at Chick-fil-A before he worked as an extradition agent for the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, and later worked in Ministry full-time.

A few years ago, Roy and Cindy decided they wanted horses for their family to enjoy.  Roy and his wife had horses when they first got married and decided that if they were to have horses again, they wouldn't pay to board the horses off-property. So, with determination and hard work, Roy and his son, Zach, dedicated a year and a half to building a beautiful barn for their horses, Jasper and Shiloh. The barn sits on 65 acres of property in Dalzell in Sumter County. Now that their son is pursuing his dream of becoming an emergency physician at Ross University School of Medicine, Roy and Cindy spend their free time riding their horses and tending to the barn.
