AllSouth AllStar Ivette
If you've ever attended an AllSouth event, or an event we’ve sponsored, chances are that our December AllStar was involved. With over 24 years at AllSouth under her belt, Ivette is certainly no stranger. While she admits that she doesn't love to be in the spotlight, Ivette's recognition is certainly well-deserved. Here's more about this month’s AllStar.
In 1999, Ivette started her career at AllSouth in member services. She offered support to front-line employees and enjoyed assisting where she could all while meeting new people through her work with the Credit Union. When a position opened up in Business Development, a branch of our Marketing department, Ivette seized the opportunity to apply. Her new role gave her the opportunity to be out in the community and attend events on behalf of the Credit Union.
During her time in Business Development, she visited the various counties we service, providing more information about the products and services we offer, led financial workshops, and found ways to support community efforts throughout the Midlands. Ivette served on numerous boards and attended countless community chamber events. As a diplomat for the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce, and an ambassador for the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce, she forged relationships with businesses and vendors that we still work with today. Ivette said that traveling across the Midlands and outlying counties helped her learn her way around and cemented her roots in South Carolina. Her favorite places to visit were the small, quaint towns where she felt she could have a bigger impact.
Business Development eventually transitioned into Community Engagement. This change allowed Ivette to get involved with more local projects and causes that align with AllSouth's mission. Over the years, she has seen the Credit Union expand into new communities, the relocation of our Operations Center from Trenholm Road to Elmwood Avenue in 2014, multiple branch remodels, and the opening of many new locations. Ivette has also had the opportunity to work alongside our branch managers to see how she could best serve their areas. Ivette would organize our involvement in local fairs, parades, and festivals. As a self-proclaimed "self-starter," she naturally took on more responsibility over time.
Her new responsibilities would once again call for a new title as a marketing operations assistant where Ivette helps plan employee volunteer days and community events, provides branches with necessary supplies and regulatory items, and processes sponsorship requests. Ivette said one of her main strengths is working behind the scenes taking care of the tasks many wouldn't even think about, all to help ensure things run smoothly. This strength has paid off in the work she's put in year after year for the planning and execution of our annual Soldiers and Vets Charity Golf Tournament which has raised over $350,000 for organizations throughout the Midlands.
"Ivette plays a major part in planning our large community events such as our Soldiers and Vets Charity Golf Tournament. She is extremely dependable and always maintains a positive attitude no matter what’s happening. Ivette knows exactly what needs to be done and how to handle obstacles as they arise. She is a pleasure to work with and I admire her patience." -Karen, Marketing Manager
Ivette has been married for 40 years. She met her husband when they were both stationed at an Army base in Germany, and today they are the proud parents of three children and seven grandchildren. Ivette is adamant about animal rescue and has adopted 11 pets. Ivette currently has three dogs that she loves deeply. When times allows, she likes to travel with her grandkids and other family members. Ivette loves the outdoors and finds solace in gardening although she says she isn't as good at it as her husband is. She is looking forward to retirement and more family time in the near future.
"Ivette has done such a phenomenal job laying out the expectations and foundation that it has been easy to step in and fill in where needed. I am thankful to call her my coworker and more so a friend." -Jessica, Marketing Operations Assistant
