Soldiers & Vets Charity Golf Tournament Throughout the Years
AllSouth Federal Credit Union, originally established in 1960 as Fort Jackson Federal Credit Union, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative. AllSouth was founded by supporting the military. We're dedicated to giving back and feel passionately about volunteering our time and financial support to local organizations, causes, and charities. These initiatives reflect our shared values of supporting the military, family crisis, and issues of homelessness and hunger, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.
In 1996, we established the Soldiers & Vets Charity Golf Tournament, a significant event that has grown over the years and had a profound impact on our community. Through generous community sponsorships and donations, we've raised over $375,000 to support our military community in the Midlands. Our team members generously volunteer their time to sell raffle tickets and mulligans, pack goodie bags for players, and ensure the golfers enjoy a fun-filled day of golf. Each tournament finishes with dinner, raffles, and a trophy presentation.
"Watching this event grow year after year, which has in turn allowed us to give back more and more to the community every year, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my time with AllSouth." - Joseph Nordmeyer, Business Services Coordinator
Since the tournament began, we've supported a diverse range of military-based groups and partnered with organizations that align with our beliefs in providing assistance to the military, aiding families in crisis, and addressing homelessness and hunger challenges across the Midlands. These organizations include the Fort Jackson-Palmetto State Chapter of AUSA, USO, PAALS, Honor Flight, Friends of Fisher House, Big Red Barn Retreat, Hidden Wounds, Transitions Homeless Center, and more.
Each of these organizations is involved in various forms of support for military personnel, veterans, and individuals in need, including offering assistance and resources for mental health, homelessness, and other challenges individuals may face.
"I have always enjoyed our Soldiers & Vets Tournament. Putting together a golf tournament to raise funds for our beneficiaries is challenging, but it is also rewarding because we help organizations like PAALS, the USO, and Transitions continue to provide their valuable services in our community. Through this tournament, I have learned a lot about the different organizations and the services they provide to our community." - Ivette Starkey, Marketing Operations Assistant
Through sponsorships and donations from local businesses, individuals, and other organizations, we can raise awareness and funds for these important charities that actively make a difference in the lives of those who sacrifice so much for our country and our freedoms. Here's what some of our past tournament beneficiaries had to say:
"Ten percent of all homeless individuals in South Carolina identify as a veteran. At Transitions, we have increased our ability to house homeless veterans and help them obtain permanent housing. Our work is only made possible by the support of community partners like AllSouth." - Gavin Brown, Vice President of Advancement, Transitions Homeless Center - 2023 Beneficiary
"Partnering with AllSouth Federal Credit Union has been a true blessing. Hidden Wounds is an 'in the weeds' organization that helps those others have left behind. AllSouth has made it possible for us to bring mental health first aid training to veterans and those who serve veterans at no cost to them. AllSouth has chosen to join the fight in a big way, and we are truly grateful for their contribution to our fight." - Lance Newman, Executive Director of Hidden Wounds – 2022 Beneficiary
In addition to typical event sponsorships, we offer a special "Sponsor a Soldier" sponsorship, allowing veterans and active military members to participate in the tournament at no cost.
"Supporting our military is part of our foundation, and giving back to the military and local organizations is a top priority for us." - Connie Hernandez Vizitei, Chief Marketing and Training Officer.
