AllSouth Serves Meals at Transitions
Our AllSouth team recently volunteered at Transitions, the largest homeless center in the Midlands. Transitions is a place where the journey home begins for many men and women who are struggling with homelessness. They work to equip and engage the people they serve to transition to stable and permanent housing.
Since they opened their doors in 2011, Transitions has helped 2,473 homeless people stabilize their lives and secure permanent housing. Not only do they help with housing, they also provide three hot meals a day to those in need. They serve meals year-round, including holidays, providing over 1.6 million meals to date. Finding a hot and healthy meal while struggling with homelessness can be very difficult. For some, receiving a meal at Transitions may be the only meal they eat that day. The AllSouth team decided to help out with lunch on October 23 serving up meals to 141 people.
Buddy, an AllSouth team member, had this to say on the experience, “I really enjoy interacting with the people. Any one of us could find ourselves on the other side of the food line. I feel lucky to work for a company that not only helps those in need, but also allows employees to give back to the communities in which they work and live.” Tanisha, our team member, sums it up best, “this was a great experience for me!! I really enjoy helping my community.”
We’re always looking for organizations to serve with and ways we can help our community. We strive to make a difference and develop our philanthropic efforts.
